Hello there. I'm Heather Mewshaw and I provide sign language interpreting services in the Baltimore-Washington D.C. metropolitan area. You may know me from my former name as Heather Harlan.

I have been working as a professional sign language interpreter since 1999. I became certified with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) in 2000. I currently hold my Certificate of Interpretation (CI) and my Certificate of Transliteration (CT). I am comfortable with working in an array of settings ranging from corporate to medical to community events.

I am viewed as a reliable asset who understands the need for effective communication. Outside interpreting, I am involved in fostering growth within the sign language interpreting profession. I am an industry consultant conducting work that ranges from mentoring interpreting students to administering RID certification examinations. This work gives me the ability to stay in touch with the pulse of my field and gain insight into new trends.
